Kwago

Kwago collaborates with diverse communities to build caring spaces for reading, writing and publishing.

Started in 2017 as an independent bookstore based in the Philippines, Kwago has grown into a non-profit cultural organization and publishing lab dedicated to nurture the creative and critical consciousness of every Filipino here and the diaspora.

A “think-and-do tank,” Kwago develops publications, programs and projects to hold spaces centered on free speech, transdisciplinary speculations and collective reimagining of authorship and access.

Run by a band of artists, writers, teachers and engineers, we work under the principles of Free Open-Source Software (FOSS), but also support the dignity of creative labor. We believe in the power of paper, ink, and code as tools for the practice of freedom.
